One of the seven wonders of the natural world. The Great Barrier Reef lies off the Northeastern coast of Queensland. The only visible structure from space! The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living thing on earth, and spans 135,000 miles! It is home to a variety of different species, and deadly animals.
The journey to get here started with a $300 dollar ticket, and 1.5 hour boat ride into seemingly the middle of the ocean. Once we arrived we were given Lycra suits complete with hoods and foot socks. This was precautionary to prevent against the deadly box jellyfish and Portuguese man o war. Which can cause the central nervous system to shut down in rare cases.
The sea was comprised of a variety of different species from large fish, florescent coral, beautiful jellyfish, and small microorganisms. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I would highly suggest that you take a visit. Optimal times June- October. This time offers dry and calm weather.
