Looking for a quick (ish) mountain escape from Los Angeles. If you don’t want to commit to the travel and associated time it takes to head to the likes of Vail, Aspen, Park City, ect. but, you still want to soak up the snow and indulge in some Apres ski. Mammoth is a close destination for Angelenos.
I said close, I didn’t say glamorous.. the best hotel that Mammoth has to offer is the Westin. I just say it is beautiful and equipped with champagne arrival, pet friendly, several spas, and a nice bar. In addition I did appreciate the in-room fireplaces and overtly kind staff.
Other than lodging, there’s plenty to explore in town. Including several unique breweries and distillery’s a plethora of dinning options and lots of town events including; DJ’s, outdoor movie nights, fireworks, and seasonal event options to chose from.
The skiing itself is equally good. Several ski run options, and restaurant/bar options available even while on the mountain.
Is it Aspen or Park City? No, but it’s an hour flight from LAX (5 hour drive) and offers some lively entertainment and a quick mountain escape.
