24 hours in CHICAGO

When flying across the country coast to coast, one can sometimes find themselves invariably in a halfway point. Instead of spending a few lousy hours at the airport, make that layover a pit stop and explore the city! Here’s what I would recommend if you have a brief amount of time in the Windy City.

Where to stay?

Stay at the Thompson, Langham, or Sofitel. All boast chic hotel bars and are rather centrally located.

Where to eat?

Lunch must be at Smith & Woolensky. One of the few US cities that offers one. The service is unparalleled and the cuisine is diverse enough to have a variety of options. After lunch head a bit further south on the river and check out a few rooftop drinks at The London House. Featuring a variety of handcrafted cocktails and 360• city views.

What to see?

Take a walk through Millennium Park. Which features the prominent ‘bean’ statue as well as several acres of beautifully maintained land and a large outdoor concert space. This walk leads to sea with expansive harbors and quaint eateries all with beautiful Lake Michigan views. Next, if you can time it right, head to a Cubs game! There is some much to see in and around the stadium and the entertainment and energy surrounding Wriggly field is contagious. Cap the night off with some deep dish pizza and drink from your hotel bar and head to the airport in the morning, now that’s a layover!
