I recently viewed Woody Allen’s Cafe’ Society. This film is dynamic and interesting. Set in the 1950’s in Hollywood’s golden age, the film tells the love story of a charming and awkward Jesse Eisenberg and the much sought after Kirstin Stewart. The costumes and set designs are exceptional, and I truly love the vulnerability of this film and how incredibly relatable it is. Although the ending leaves viewers feeling satirical, ambiguous, and longing for more, I appreciate that this film is not a fairy tale, instead it parallels true life with its complications, consequences and untimely events.
